Our Story: Creating Custom Closets in Dayton
It started with a girl who couldn’t stop organizing.
Rachael Fahncke studied marketing and graphic design. That’s what she went to school for, that’s what made sense on paper. But her real passion was interior design and organization. The kind where you can actually find what you need without digging through three drawers.
Eventually, she stopped fighting it and started Dayton Designer Closets.
Turns out, a lot of people needed help with their closets.
We started helping people deal with their clutter. Not the Marie Kondo “get rid of everything” approach. We went with the realistic “you have stuff and it needs to go somewhere” approach. We started designing custom storage that worked with how people actually lived.
That was nearly a decade ago. We’re still going it. Just with a bigger team, more experience, and a showroom in Centerville.
Still local, still woman-owned.
When you work with us, you’re not calling a 1-800 number or dealing with a franchise. You’re working with people who live in Centerville, who know the area, who care about the work because this is our neighborhood.
Our team includes designers, builders, parents, coffee drinkers, and organization enthusiasts. We’re particular about details and we stand behind what we build. And yes, Rachael still sings in the showroom.

7 years of figuring out what works.
For nearly a decade, we’ve designed and installed closets, gargaes, and pantries all over the Dayton area. Walk-ins for designed for massive shoe collections, reach-ins for apartments, garages where the goal was just to park a car inside again.
Every project is different. Different goals, different priorities, different houses.

What started with Rachael has grown into a full team of designers, operations, office staff, and installers. But we still do things the same way we always have.
We measure in person, show you 3D designs before we build anything, match your finishes, and care about getting every detail right.
